Hollow: ...No More

I felt so empty...

Woke up very early last Saturday. With just a cup of 3 in 1 coffee for breakfast, I spent the next four hours hunting with just a bottle of drinking water. I was so eager to go birding and managed to get so busy that I forgot about food in the process.

1. Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier)
A shot of a Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier) in flight was my first attempt to get started. The shot tickled me when I looked at the LCD...the bird is no where center! Has it been that long?? Despite the superb focusing speed, I only managed to shoot the bird near the edge of the frame.

2. Chestnut Munia (Lonchura malacca)
Spent an hour near the lake and saw the Stork-billed Kingfisher. However, too bad coz that's about it...no shots. I moved uphill (so-called) to find some excitement and indeed I got what I wished for. The Chestnut Munia (Lonchura malacca) is not the hardest bird to spot , but when you're desperate...

3. Olive-backed Sunbird (Nectarinia jugularis)

I managed to capture some shots of the Olive-backed Sunbird (Nectarinia jugularis). I was not really satisfied with the results but I can say I am quite happy. I got a juvenile, male and female and I really can't complain.

4. Pied Triller (Lalage nigra)
Not the most impressive of shots. They are not shy birds but rarely seen perched on a clear branch. The move fast and my neck strained just to catch up with this fella...

5. Brown-capped Woodpecker (Picoides moluccencis)

These are my best personal shots of the Brown-capped Woodpecker (Picoides moluccencis) thus far. I must say that I am pretty proud of the shots. I wished it was a bit nearer to me...but beggars cannot be choosers...grateful!

6. Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker (Dicaeum cruentatum)
Just my luck! a juvenile (so I think) Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker (Dicaeum cruentatum) feeds on a midget tree nearby. It was chirping non stop as if calling me to get a shot of him. What a surprise coz they normally don't go down this low. Just my luck...

What a day it was even for a few hours... shortly after, my housemate and I went to feast at our colleagues "Hari Raya Open House". People says no such thing as free lunch-they're wrong! I was physically and mentally "filled" after that...empty no more I am...(as to my CF cards!)

Never mind the empty stomach, you got six amazing images to show here.
The last one is my favourite.
