Birding in Kinarut District

Beautiful Saturday today. Took breakfast in the city with my wife and buddies. Went for a little shopping before going home and getting prepared. Preparing for the much awaited birding trip. Guess the location is no more a secret...But the place is truly virgin as i thought...
Car pool with Ron and headed for Kinarut around 3:00pm. Chai had fetched me and my wife before we spent around half hour waiting for him at his place. Interesting 30 minutes really, I managed to capture a Bulbul;

When we arrived in Kinarut, we went trekking uphill but unfortunately... Only when we decided to go at Alphonsus' place we were greeted by some amazing birds such as Red Eyes Bulbul, Yellow-vented Bulbul, and of course a Wagtail!;

Frustrated for having work against the strong sunlight, we packed and were ready to go when a dream Sunbird appeared on a nearby Tapioca trees! My word, how unfortunate can a good man like me can be! Take a good look at it...I was at the worst position in the car!

Still couldn't believe my luck when we saw a pecular movements on a tree. Got off the car and got under the tree...Saw a Red eyes Bulbul hopping around. Couldn't manage to get a shot at it but managed to capture a Tupaitanah! I personally love the squirel posed!

I saw a big bird in flight which I thought a Coucal at first. I couldn't believe it when it was actually a Malkoha! Zaiton my wife managed to capture quite a decent shot...

I did quite okay myself I guess...

It was getting dark and we were having nice cool drinks at Alphonus'. Just about to close the birding day curtain when I just have to test my new 580EX II flashgun on a munia...

All in all, a place worth revisit for some serious birding I supposed... Not a dissapointing place at all. In fact, it's full of potential! Kinarut, I'm coming back and please be nice...get all the beautiful birds ready! I certainly will be ready...

Thanks for your comments on my latest photo!

I must admit I didn't think about rule of thirds or anything as sophisticated when I took it, I just thought it looked like I ought to shoot the scene I was watching, including my shadow, which filled it adequately. I'm not much of an artist, more like a spur-of-the-moment kind of photographer!

What I admire is your capacity to shoot living creatures who usually don't wait for you to be ready to shoot... Birds always fly away while I'm changing my lens or just pointing my camera :( ...

I know your specialty is birds, but here I really like the squirrelly creature playing peek-a-boo!
